Corthal® WZ 50 Cored Wires

Is a C-, Cr-, W- alloyed flux cored electrode for surfacing of tools made of similar hot work steel or for hardfacing of working surfaces of hot work tools made of low alloyed steel. The weld metal can still be machined. In the case of tools made of low-alloy steels, the base metal is preheated to 150-300°C. The weld metal is then welded to the base metal. Tool steels are preheated to 300-400°C and the temperature is maintained during the welding process.

The welding wires are used for hot cutting tools, dies, punches, press dies, forging tools and shear blades.

The hardness grade is 48 - 50 HRc.

Corthal® WZ 55 Cored Wires

Is a high W, Cr, Co alloyed flux cored electrode for surfacing on highly stressed, heat resistant tools. The deposited, air-hardening weld metal is dimensionally, pressure and wear resistant.

For use on hot cuts, dies, punches, press dies, forging tools and shear blades.

The hardness grade is 53 - 56 HRc.

Corthal® WZ 59 Cored Wires

Is a high Cr, Mo and W alloyed flux cored electrode for surfacing of wear resistant and heat resistant hardfacing in high speed quality. The deposited martensitic weld metal is suitable for repair and new fabrication of hot and cold work tools and can be heat treated.

The welding wires are used for guide bars and hot and cold work tools.

The hardness grade is 57 - 59 HRc.

Corthal® WZ 60 Cored Wires

Is a flux cored wire electrode for hardfacing of high speed steel quality tools with high toughness at the same time. It is used for hardfacing cutting edges on low alloy steel tools and for repairing high speed steel. The deposited weld metal is temper resistant and allows heat treatments as for high speed steels similar to the type.

The welding rods are used for impact knives, threading tools, twist drills, reamers and cutters for tools above 880 N/mm².

The hardness grade is 59 - 65 HRc (soft annealed approx 250 HB).

Corthal® WZ 6356 Cored Wires

Is a flux cored electrode to be welded under inert gas for hardfacing of tools which are still to be machined and for joining high-strength steels. The deposited weld metal consists of a maraging alloy which can still be drilled, turned, milled and filed in the as-welded condition. A significant increase in the hardness of the deposit weld metal can be achieved by artificial ageing, and a further increase is possible by nitriding.

The welding wires are used for aluminum die casting molds, aluminum edging and shearing tools.

The degree of hardness is approx 35 HRc (artificial ageing: >50 HRc).
