Corthal® WSC-DUR Fe

Corthal® WSC-DUR Fe is a cored wire with special tungsten carbide embedded in a wear-resistant Fe matrix. The carbide has a melting point of approx. 3300°C and is therefore more resistant to dissolution in the weld pool than tungsten carbide. In contrast to previous comparable weld surfacing materials, the dissolution process of the tungsten carbide during welding is additionally almost completely prevented by a specially developed steel matrix, which is ultimately reflected in a significantly higher wear resistance of the surfacing. The wire can be processed excellently and is particularly used against extreme abrasive mineral wear without impact stress at operating temperatures of up to approx. 450°C. Due to the high carbide hardness, the weld metal can only be machined by grinding.

Steel matrix with intercalated tungsten carbides.(52 - 58%)

The hardness grade is 65 - 67 HRc (tungsten carbides approx 2400 HV 0.4).

Thaloy® WSC-DUR Ni

Is a flux cored electrode for gas shielded arc welding, but can also be welded by the OA process. It consists of a nickel sheath filled with tungsten fused carbide (W2CWC) and a combination of elements (C, Si, B) to build a special nickel- base alloy. Due to the chemical composition and the chosen grain distribution of the carbides, the cladding is extremely resistant to corrosive and abrasive stress. Both ferritic and austenitic steels (with appropriate heat treatment) can be plated. Thaloy® WSC-DUR Ni has excellent welding properties and excellent flow characteristics. The applied coating is non-porous and features a smooth, clean surface.

NiBSi matrix with intercalated tungsten carbides (52 - 68%)

The hardness grade is 54 - 56 HRc (tungsten carbides approx 2400 HV 0.4).
